Protection Assistant
Background:
The Lutheran World Federation, in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, established operations in Jordan in 2012. The Lutheran World Federation is assisting refugees and vulnerable groups in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Mafraq and Za’atari camp. The Lutheran World Federation is running projects related to Education, WASH, Livelihoods, Protection, Rehabilitation and Humanitarian Assistance.
Scope of Work:
The protection Assistant will supervise the activities of the Facilators, and Syrian volunteers in conducting the PSS classes in Irbid under the supervision of Protection Officer or in that position absence the Protection Manager. The proteftion assistant will also conduct field outreach sessions to inform about LWF and find beneficiaries for the programming.
Strategy and Planning
Monitor risks, constraints or escalating issues, and inform the management accordingly.
Project Cycle Management
Serve as a link between LWF and Facilitators. Supervising their activities to ensure program activities are implemented effectively and effeciantly.
Ddocument feedback from Facilator, Syrian participants in programming to ensure learning are documented and feed back into programming.
Ensure pre and post testing of PSS activities are carried out.
Build capacity of the Facilitators, through regular mentoring, coaching.
Assist in conduct training programs to support the activities of the Facilitators team under guidance of Protection coordinator/ Manager.
Plan and conduct outreach programmes to inform about Key events and coordinate the assessment of new benefcries.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of classes and activities.
Support regular data collection, conduct analysis of data and prepare reports to management.
Work closely with Protectiion Officer / Protection Manager to establish and maintain a communication link with key groups etc.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Program Coordination & Networking
Coordinate with Protection officer and Manager to particpate in relavent Irbid cordiantion meetings and to ensure media and donor assess beneficaries.
Support
Identify supply needs and assist Project officer and Manager in writing PR’s
Other
Carry out any other duties as requested by the Project Officer and Protection Manager.
Requirements
Essential
Bachelor Degree in Pedagogy or Education or any relevant speciality.
One year relevant work experience with INGO.
Fluent in Arabic. English is intermediate.
Experience with SPHERE, INEE and Core humanitarian Standards.
Proven computer literacy, including good knowledge of MS Office.
Skills
Facilitation skills.
Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development
Commitment to the ideals of LWF including Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, Accountability Framework and LWF Gener Justice Policy.
Ability to plan, organise and manage own time.
Able to work effectively in a wide variety of situations.
Able to work in fast moving environment and comfortable with constant change.
Flexibility and willingness to cover other tasks as needed.
Able to manage own work and resources in order to meet time-bound objectives.
