Psychosocial Support Officer (PSS)
General Description of Role
The Psychosocial Support Officer (Psychologist) will be responsible for the PSS care activities provided in PHCs and Women and Girls Safe Spaces inside Syria, in addition to providing continuous specialized training to ensure the preeminent care with standard practice. The position is based in Amman, Jordan.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for Psychological assessment of beneficiaries accessing PSS care in PHCs and Women and Girls Safe Spaces in Southern Syria;
- Conduct remote-based PSS counselling sessions based on the individual needs and abilities of beneficiaries, through individual and group sessions;
- Keep beneficiaries patients’ files updated
- Update data collection of PSS activities on monthly basis, in coordination with the Protection and M&E team;
- Providing continuous technical support and capacity building to the PSS staff in the field;
- Providing technical support to the logistics department, ensuring technical validation of psychosocial related devices, items and equipment, as needed;
- Writing technical situation reports providing relevant data, analysis and recommendations related to PSS activities;
- Line managing field counterparts in South Syria (PSS Officer and PSS Assistant);
- Ensure referral and integration of services provided after the counselling sessions;
- Develop and facilitate trainings for Protection and Health Staff (RI staff and Program staff) on PSS;
- Support the Development of IEC materials in coordination with Protection Officer and Protection Technical Coordinator
- Provide guidance to Field Protection Manager and PSS Officers and protection Staff;
- Coordination with Protection Officer in Jordan for joint activities between PSS and Health;
Required Qualifications
- Masters of Clinical Psychology or equivalent Master’s degree, and registration with the Jordanian Council (desired);
- Degree in Psychology, Psychosocial or Social Worker (required);
- At least 3 year of experience in PSS counselling and/or clinical psychology;
- Experience in similar role with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and/or UN agencies is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic;
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Demonstrable experience and/or understanding of the protection sector is necessary;
- Previous experience in patient rehabilitation is a plus;
- Comfortable working in remote-management settings;
- Previous experience in the field of vulnerability/disability in an emergency situation with INGOs is an asset;
- Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure;
- Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently without supervision;
- A strong propensity for flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking will be essential to this job.
