PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Since 2013, Mercy Corps implements the education programming to ensure vulnerable children, have equal access to quality education To-date, MC has successfully built the capacity of 70 schools in both the refugees and in the host communities. These schools now have basic accessible facilities for PWDs and trained teachers who are better able to identify, support and adapt their teaching curriculum to the needs of PWDs. Furthermore parents and community members participated in awareness raising activities to reduce stigma and promote inclusion of PWDs.
MC educational program is expanding to include a new component that targets dropped out children/dropped out program, the new program will be implemented in 25 schools within Ibid, Amman, Zarqa, Madaba and Mafraq.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Education field officer is responsible for direct implementation, and documentation of the component meeting or exceeding regulations and local Authorities goals/objectives. This position assists in managing the programs as a whole with specific responsibilities in coordinating all aspects of the classroom design, curriculum implementation, supervision and monitoring of the education program within the NFE centers. The Education field officer will treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and make the necessary referrals for clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participating in conducting PRA’s (Participatory Rapid Appraisals) and selecting sites and schools to implement the program.Establishing the educational centers and schools where the NFE (Non-Formal Education) will be implementedPrepare Monthly reportsFollowing up on providing educational centers and classes with the required equipment to implement the projectParticipating in the NFE (Non- Formal Education) trainings that will target the NFE selected facilitatorsFollow up on implementation of the program in the field including Follow up on educational sessions and groups activities both indoor and outdoor such as trips, camps and ceremonies.Documenting the monthly tasks and activities that are conductedPreparing monthly activities and achievements reports .Preparing the monthly plan for the NFE centersPreparing and participating in the periodical meetings that are held with the facilitators in the different locations.Participating in the monthly and periodical institutional meetings of the NFE (Non- Formal Education) projectRaise awareness of the local community and establish strong relations with them, along with gaining support for the programProvides counsel, assistance, and support the Non-formal education center staff (Manager, facilitates, and specialized teachers) of education program planning and management.Establish strong relations and referral pathways with other NGOsBuild strong relations with all the educational staff in the centers.Updating the data and information of the beneficiaries of the project on monthly basis.Ensure that education component activities follow performance standards at all sites.Provides leadership to the education staff and program staff overall on developing, designing curricula around, and responding to child outcomes.Conduct oneself ethically and professionally.Any other tasks assigned by Project Manager and/or Project Supervisor.Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Non-Formal Program Coordinator
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: PaQ Department, Admin and Procurement teams.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in education, development studies, special education, speech therapy, occupational therapy, or social science.
A minimum of 1 - 3 years of professional experience, preferably in education setting.
Understanding of curriculum standards and an ability to develop educational programs which tie to the requirements and standards of the Ministry of Education.
